A majority of the ads on Craigslist are spam. These spammers replicate real listings with a believable description and a picture. There's really no way to differentiate between a real ad and a spam. What happens is you email them and they reply with a variation of..

Someone just bought this from me, but I can tell you where I got it from.
I just purchased 3 of these from (insert bs website) and I resold them on here for some extra money.
The trick is to watch for bidding to slow down and then put in a bid. That's what I do and I win all the time.

Over 50% of the listings that I email to, I will receive a variation of the above spam.
Summary: Lots of spammers on Craigslist. Don't put too much effort writing an email to buy something on Craigslist as the listing can be fake.
